Correction To Our Schedule of Events!!

We have a couple of changes to our proposed schedule of events:
Tonight we will be making our Den Flag, making a snack, and playing games. We should have discussed the scrapbooks last week with all of the parents and didn't so we do not have the scrapbooks yet. Also, we have a Den Meeting listed for December 16th. This is actually going to be a Pack Meeting in which we will be having a Potluck Dinner. More info on that to come. I hope that you all will be able to make the meeting tonight at 6:30. See you in a bit!!!

Food and Football

Tonight at our Den Meeting we learned all about the Food Pyramid. We discussed all of the food groups and then each Tiger made their own food pyramid. We also did a quiz on paper to test their knowledge and played a game where food was pulled out of a paper bag and they had to name which food group it belonged in. Thanks again to Allison for taking half of the Tigers and leading them in these activities. Then Coach Pigg taught the Tigers all about Football! A special thanks to him for sharing his knowledge of football with all of us. Here are some pictures that Zane's dad got...

See ya'll at the MTSU Football Game!!!

Tiger Take Home for Tuesday Nov. 18th

Tiger Take Home
Complete pages 52-56, Family Activity 3F. These are very important safety plans for you and your Tiger. We are not going to count fire drills at school as completion of this requirement. It needs to be a plan for what your Tiger should do if there is ever a fire in your home. Below are some tips from the Fire Departments website. Then you will also discuss with your Tiger what to do if they ever become lost.
Practicing Home Escape Plans
-Every family needs a home fire escape plan. When you make your plan, try to identify two ways out of each room (one way out might be the window, the other could be the door).
-Make sure that doors and other exits out of your home are clear of toys, furniture, and other clutter.
-If someone in your home needs help getting around (an infant, or a grandparent), make sure that another member of the family has been assigned to help them in the event of a fire.
-Choose a safe place to meet outside after you've left your home.
-Make sure that everyone in your home knows the fire department's emergency number and understands to get out first and then call for help.
-Most important of all: practice your home escape plan twice a year. You never know when you'll have to use it!

Pack Meeting and Flag Ceremony

Last night we had a wonderful Pack Meeting. It started off with the Tigers presenting the flags and leading the Pack in the Pledge. Then we kicked off the awards with the presentation of many beads and belt loops for various accomplishments and every boy received their Bobcat Badge!! Tammy also shared with the Pack all that our Den has been busy doing. We are so proud of all of the boys and the hard work they have put in!

We then headed outside where Michael Martin and Phil Pigg lead us through the procedures of a Flag Ceremony. Some of the things the boys learned were how to raise and lower our flag appropriately, how to fold the flag, and what each of those folds stand for, why the flag is flown at half mast and why the flag must be lit by atleast two lights at night. Thanks again Mr. Martin and Mr. Pigg for doing that for our Pack. We really appreciate it!

Wear Your Uniform to School Day!

Today we had our first "Wear your Uniform to School Day." Because it is also Red Ribbon Week, some of our Tigers wore clothing representing what they hope to be when they grow up. I was volunteering at school today and brought my camera in hopes that I could catch some of our Tigers at lunch. Here are a few really cute pictures of our boys. They all looked so handsome and represented our Den well! This is something that we will be doing once a month on the day of the Pack Meetings. We will remind everyone when it is time to wear them again. Thanks again parents for your support and participation.Clark, Ethan R. Maddux, Ethan C. and Logan Maveric and Zane

Smells like Peanut Butter!

Tonight the Tigers had a great time making Bird Feeders out of pine cones, peanut butter and bird seed. A huge thank you goes out to Aaron and Allison for helping to run that project outside! The boys also got to do leaf rubbings with a variety of leaves that I collected from around our yard. One of the boys commented on how 2 of the leaves looked like Poison Oak!! I gathered those up quickly and put them away, so if any mysterious rash appears on your son...anyway! We also talked about their visit to the Sam Davis Home and the differences and similarities of life then and now. We took a vote and it was unanimous, all of the boys are glad that they live in 2008!! For those Tigers that don't quite have the Bobcat Requirements down, continue to work on those and let us know if you memorize them before Tuesday so that you can receive your badge at the Pack Meeting. Thanks again parents for your commitment to Scouts!

Tiger Take Home for the Week Of October 21

Complete Pages 45-47 in your Tiger Book. This is Family Activity 2F. Look at a map of your community. Also, just a reminder that next Tuesday we would like for the boys to wear their uniforms to school. This is something that we would like for the boys to do every month on the day of the Pack Meeting! Thanks again for your participation...See you tonight!

A Fabulous Time!!!

Hey Tigers and Parents! We had a blast this evening with all of the boys and we were blessed with some wonderful weather. On our hike, we sang the "Tiger Song" as we marched, we stopped for a photo op and then headed along our way. We hiked down to the waters edge where we saw some fish and a black duck that lives under the dock. We hiked through the woods and even over a couple of bridges. We also discussed littering and the elements of the Bobcat Badge and they knew them all! Back at the shelter, the boys learned about the "Leave No Trace" frontcountry guidelines while the hot dogs were grilling. After a prayer from Ethan C.'s Dad, the Tigers dug into hot dogs, chips, baked beans, and dessert. But I think their favorite dessert was getting to roast their own marshmallow topped off with a chocolate bar! We also presented Tiger Totems to Jacquez, Austin L., and Trevor. Thank you all so much for your attendance and participation. Without you this evening would not have been such a success!!
